Symbolism in the Color Purple by Alice Walker Essay
Symbolism is one of the major elements in The Color Purple by Alice Walker. The womans search for something she has never experienced is the symbolization of the mankinds search for love and happiness. The meaning of names, occupations, power, pants, cloth, words, eyes, frogs, starts, shell, stamps are only few examples of the symbols used by the author and are very important in understanding not only the characters of the story, but also global values such as love, power, mutual understanding, and authority over another persons life. The purple color itself symbolizes love in the story. When Celie is shopping for the first time in her life for new clothes, she wants to get something purple. However, she cannot find anyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Sex is something Sofia is able to control and it empowered her to fight Harpo when he tried to reduce her to the status of an object. Even the names of the characters are symbolic. It seems that the usage of names is the authors favorite way to identify how much power one character has over another. Celie is unable to call Mr.em_/emem_ by his first name and lacks any power over him . The power of names is most vividly described in the relationships of Harpo and Squeak. As long as Squeak is called so, she is powerless to defend herself. Celie notices that Squeak is much like herself in actions and obeying. However, after being raped, Squeak points to Harpo that her name is Mary Agnes and demanding to be called so she asserts herself as an independent person demanding respect . The occupations of characters also have symbolic meaning and represent not only the social status of each person but also the strength of the individuals. Sophia becomes a servant and is subjected to the status that Harpo has fought with her to achieve. She is the symbol of the indecisiveness which needs to be fought against. Shug is independent because she works for herself. She represents a confidence in life and is a strong individual . The similar independence is offered to Mary Agnes when she becomes a singer like Shug. Marys decision is a symbol of ability to change ones own life and reach someShow MoreRelatedLiterary Elements of The Color Purple Essay1090 Words à |à 5 PagesAlice Walker may seem the usual type of author that is ordinary in her writing. Realism Is The Best For Ruling Because Essay - 1690 Words
Realism is seeing the problem as it is and dealing with it accordingly. Many people in political power tend to see problems through a realistic lens. This is because in a democracy you are elected into power by the people so, a politician needs the people to love him. However, who loves you today may not love you tomorrow so, a politician must always be a ââ¬Ëpeople pleaserââ¬â¢. While a politician in a communist power uses fear which is the best for ruling because they will not disobey you. How fear can lead to hate which is the worst way to rule because people will plot against you and impede everything you try to accomplish. With realism the end justifies the means however, if you are ruling with ââ¬Ëloveââ¬â¢ you cannot always do what is necessary because the people may not approve of it. If you rule with fear you will get more done because no one would stand in your way because they are afraid of you which is why this is the best way to rule. However, if they hate y ou they will start undermining you and trying to overthrow you so, you have to keep a balance to avoid self-ruin. People also do not like bad things that happen unexpectedly. So if you plan when things are going to go wrong or when something is too happened people will adjust their schedule accordingly and plan around it. Organize Your Media Library How to Add WordPress Media Folders
Whenever you upload an image file or other attachment to WordPress, it goes straight into the WordPress media library. That default media library is great in the moment, as you can easily find any files you uploaded right then. However, if youve ever tried to go back and find old files, you probably realized its a major pain (similarly to the other common pain among WordPress users the default search feature). To solve this, you can add WordPress media folders to easily organize your files exactly like you do on your computer. In this post, Ill guide you through how to use a free plugin to organize your media library with folders and find old files. Then, Ill give you another free option to organize your media library with taxonomies. And at the end, Ill share one of my favorite premium media library plugins which combines the best of both worlds! WordPress Media Library Folders Author(s): Max FoundryCurrent Version: 5.0.9Last Updated: October 3, 2019media-library-plus.5.0.9.zip 88%Ratings 736,361Downloads WP 4.0+Requires To get started, you can install the plugin like any other WordPress plugin. Read this guide if youre not sure how to install a WordPress plugin.Once you activate it, youll see a new Media Library Folders option in your WordPress dashboard:Click on that button to enter your new, enhanced media library. Before digging into creating folders, its important to note that, while this interface is technically separate from your normal WordPress media library, any files you upload here will also show up in your regularà media library they just wont be organized into folders in that interface. When you click to enter your new Media Library Folders, all your images or other media files will be organized according to the default WordPress folder structure, which is by year and month. You can see this structure in the example below:Youll need to navigate to the subfolders (year/month) to see your current media files.Adding new WordPress media fol dersTo add some folders and start organizing, its as simple as clicking the Add Folder button. A box will appear where you enter the name for your folder. Then, you just need to click Create Folder to create the new folder:Note that folder names cannot contain spaces. You can use underscores or hyphens to separate words. To move or copy images to a different folder, all you need to do is select the relevant images by clicking the checkbox. Then, simply drag them to the folder you want:There is one tricky thing here you need to specify whether you want to copy or move the files by clicking on this button:By default, the plugin will copy images when you drag them. This is to prevent breaking the links to any old images youve inserted. But if you want to move files, you can do that by toggling the option to move. Just be careful because if you move an image, any posts which link to the previous image URL wont work anymore. Copying is a safer move most of the time. And thats it! Your me dia files are now organized and easy to find. There is one unfortunate limitation of the free version of this plugin. Despite offering an easy way to organize old media files, it doesnt offer an easy way to insert them into your posts unless you upgrade to the pro version. You can use the free version to quickly find the URLs to old images, but to actually insert them directly from the WordPress Editor interface, youll need to upgrade to Media Library Plus Pro for $29. Then, youll get a new button in your WordPress editor that lets you do just that:If youre a more advanced user, you can also use these WordPress media folders to automatically sync with your web server via FTP. If youre not sure what those terms mean, you dont really need to worry about them, though! How to organize your WordPress media library with taxonomiesIf you dont specifically need folders, another great way to organize your media library is with taxonomies. Think of these like tags you apply to your images or oth er files. For example, if you tag an image as food, you can always find it later by browsing to the food tag. While there arent visual folders, these taxonomies essentially solve the same problem. You can organize images both by general categories and specific tagsTo organize your media library this way, you can install a free plugin called Enhanced Media Library. Enhanced Media Library Author(s): wpUXsolutionsCurrent Version: 2.7.2Last Updated: September 13, 2018enhanced-media-library.2.7.2.zip 94%Ratings 1,382,341Downloads WP 4.5+Requires After you activate it, youll see a new Media Categories option in your existing Media section. First, you need to create some new media categories:Then, when you click on an existing image or upload a new image, youll have the option to add an associated category:Once youve organized your images into categories, you can filter them by using the new Filter by Media Category dropdown:You can also add new taxonomies (again, think of them lik e tags) through the plugins settings:Enhanced Media Library isnt as visual as WordPress media folders, but it does offer a simple, lightweight method to manage your media library.Premium plugin to add media folders WP Media FolderIf youre willing to spend some money on a premium plugin, my absolute favorite tool for organizing the WordPress media library is WP Media Folder.First off, you can create WordPress media folders inside your native media library. No separation like with Media Library Plus. You can quickly drag and drop images between folders just like on your desktop:But the plugin also gives you some really cool filtering options. Even if you havent organized your media by folders yet, you can still filter all your existing media by upload date, name, dimensions, file size, and more:As far as features go, this plugin has the most. Theres just no free version, which is why I tried to showcase free plugins first. WP Media Folder costs $29 and is available here.Wrapping thin gs upIf youre just looking for a free way to add WordPress media folders, then Media Library Plus is your best option. Just remember that you will need to upgrade to the pro version for $19 if you want an easy way to insert images from the WordPress editor. If you dont need visual folders, Enhanced Media Library offers a powerful method of categorizing and finding old files. It might take you a little while to get used to the idea of taxonomies. Once you do, though, you can use the plugin to organize your media in some powerful ways. And finally, if youre willing to pay its $29 premium price, I think WP Media Folder is the overall best WordPress media library plugin. Its folders all exist inside the native media library, which makes it easy to work with. On top of that, it also includes helpful filtering and sorting options, which makes it even easier to organize and find old files in your media library. But what do you think? Ganster essays
Ganster essays MONEY, POWER, and RESPECT ...are the keys to life of being a gangster. Once you get the money, you get the power; once you get the power, you get the respect. Today, when people hear of gangsters, they think of a group of teenagers, who are up to know good, who like to start trouble and conflict, and just do vigorous and malicious acts all the time. Many portray gangsters as a menace to society. But, what the people do is stereotype them through what they see on television and movies. Some gangs are not like that at all. I believe that gangsters play a huge role in our society. Gangs have been and will always be a part of society. They are very influential to our society, a negative influence is put on our society if something bad happens, and it is reflected around the town. Gangsters create an environment where basically it is a family. A gang is a family, where they look after one another, and where one can find comfort. In the film Goodfellas, the Mafia is a bunch of well-known individuals around town who are all really close friends. Gangsters have been around for many years. They have in one form or another been around for hundreds of years. For example pirates were in some way or another a form of an organized gang, to cowboys, to the groups that traditionally come to mind when one thinks of modern day gangs the crips and bloods, and so on. Gangsters have changed over the years. In the Review of Goodfellas, the gang that was across the street was there to help the community. As years passed, gangs have become more violent. There are just as many gangs today as there ever were, and they are getting more violent. Children today have to worry about what colors not to wear, for the fear of making a gang claiming that color angry is a matter of life and death. Teenagers in gang wars are killing each other like target practice. This young society is out of control and no one knows what to do. We are su ...

It said that government should just sit back and watch business so they do not cheat the government also to enforce contracts. The classical had many creeds they were Psychological, economic, and ,political. Each view has its own points. In this paper I will discuss those points and show you how Donald Trump is a classical liberalist. Psychological creed of classical liberalism is based on four assumptions of human nature. People were believed to be egoistic, coldly calculating, essential inert, and atomistic. Hobbes a economics argued that people were motivated by the desire for pleasure and to avoid pain. Jeremy Bentham believed pleasure differ in intensity but there was no qualitative difference. He argued that "quality of pleasure being equal, to a pushpin is as good as poetry," The theory he is trying to say about human motivation is that the we are lazy and selfish. A big part of classical liberalism is that we are coldly calculating. Being coldly calculating means that when a situation comes about we dissever what will make us receive less pain and more pleasure. Although the human motivation is by pleasure it is the decision that are cold, selfish, dispassionate, and rational assessment of the situation to choose how to avoid the pain and receive the pleasure. The emphasis on the importance of rational measurement... In the Snack Bar Essay
I picked this poem because I could picture the main character and his daily struggle clearly as I read the poem. Edwin Morgan used a lot of descriptions within the poem describing the surrounding area of the cafe and described the main character. The main theme that runs thought the whole poem is one of the daily struggle that an elderly gentlemanââ¬â¢s has to go through although people might be aware of his presence they are ignorant to the fact of the help and support that he might need. This is portrayed in the poem by the following lines:- ââ¬Å"An old man is trying to get to his feetâ⬠ââ¬Å"Slowly he leavers himself up, his hands have no power. â⬠ââ¬Å"He is as far up as he can get. The dismal hump looming over him forces his head downâ⬠ââ¬Å"The face not seem, bent down in a shadow under his capâ⬠ââ¬Å"Even on his feet he is staring at the floor or would be if he could seeâ⬠Edwin Morganââ¬â¢s descriptions uses a lot of literary techniques to help us picture the character one of the techniques he uses is juxtaposition this is used to show that nobody is really interested in this gentleman. ââ¬Å"A few heads turn in the crowded evening snack bar. â⬠Juxtaposition again is used describing the gentleman getting to his feet with no self-esteem or status. ââ¬Å"Slowly he leavers himself up, his hands have no powerâ⬠The word leavers also could represent the hard mechanical movement that the hands go through slow and stiff. The next literary technique showed enjambment something that has more than one meaning this is shown in ââ¬Å"The dismal hump looming over him forces his head downâ⬠This line could mean that the character has a humped back but it can also mean that the character has a dark cloud hanging over him no self-esteem, no status. That he is unseen in todayââ¬â¢s society. ââ¬Å"He stands in his stained beltless gabardine like a monstrous animal caught in a tent. â⬠This sentence gives the allusion of a creature like King Kong it also has alliteration running through the theme that he slitters along unnoticed. The first turning point with in the poem that makes the character real instead of a creature when he states that the character is actually blind and although his appearance isnââ¬â¢t appealing to people around him he probably would not notice as he cannot see it. ââ¬Å"Or it would be, if he could seeâ⬠. Edwin Morgan then goes on to explain that he notices how the manââ¬â¢s white stick that once might have been new and clean was now all ââ¬Å"scuffed and muddyâ⬠which told myself that the man probably lived alone, that there was no one there to help him co-ordinate and see that his clothes were clean and presentable. Edwin Morgan then lists the characters afflictions in the poem making you see him how everyone around may see almost making you feel pity for the gentleman. ââ¬Å"Long-blind, hunchback born, half paralysed. â⬠Edwin Morgan then makes the character real when he states that he ââ¬Å"Speaksâ⬠This makes large probably dirty deformed object actually human. ââ¬Å"I need the toiletâ⬠the character is also showing his vulnerability that he has to state out loud a personal function, making him fragile and dependant on someone elseââ¬â¢s help. The text then changes into two people having a conversation stopping him from being the solitary object that people are ignoring to a person asking for help a human being. The gentle man hakes the manââ¬â¢s arm trying to take charge of the situation but the gentleman tells him ââ¬Å"Give me your arm its better he saysâ⬠Again the communication between the two gentlemen makes him real and also fragile once again that he is dependent on someone elseââ¬â¢s help. Onamatapia is used in the next line to show the speed used to travel across the cafe ââ¬Å"Inch by inchâ⬠With a passive reference on how they go ââ¬Å"We driftâ⬠Edwin Morgan then describes what is possibly a short distance actually feels like a vast area by using the slimily. ââ¬Å"A few yards of floor are like a landscapeâ⬠The word landscape could also refer to obsicals that they have to avoid to cross the floor. That it feels to him like ââ¬Å"Time has almost stoppedâ⬠that it is taking an eternity to reach their destination. Edwin Morgan then sees the world through the gentlemanââ¬â¢s perspective : ââ¬Å"Slidie puddle from the nightââ¬â¢s umbrellaââ¬â¢sâ⬠ââ¬Å"Table edges, peopleââ¬â¢s feetâ⬠ââ¬Å"Hiss of the coffee ââ¬â machine, voices and laughter,â⬠ââ¬Å"Smell of cigar, hamburgers, wet coats steaming.â⬠And the shuffle of the slow pace to the stairs shoes alliterations the shuffling sound in the words ââ¬Å"And the slow dangerous inches to the stairsâ⬠The tone of the poem changes to quite an active one here but it also shows how dependant the gentleman still is still vulnerable and needs help ââ¬Å"I put his hand on the rail. â⬠ââ¬Å"And take his stickâ⬠ââ¬Å"He clings to me. ââ¬Å"The stick ââ¬Å"this is enjambment the stick could represent the gentleman helping him. ââ¬Å"White tiles and mirrors at last, he shamblesâ⬠the writer is using synecdoche here to symbolise that they have reached their destination.

Doing What It Takes essays
Doing What It Takes essays The Life You Save Mat Be Your Own, the story of a drifting man who meets an old woman and her daughter, is a very interesting piece by Flannery OConnor. The old woman, Lucynell Crater and her daughter, also Lucynell Crater, live by themselves, and one day Mr. Shiftlet, the drifter, appears on their front porch. This story tells about how their relationship grows all together and very effectively uses symbolism to explain the characters intentions. Through OConnors symbolism we see what all the characters have in mind and it is shown through their thoughts and actions. Although Lucynell Crater, the mother, and Mr. Shiftlet seem to be very polite and generous, OConnor provides us with a window that helps us see more clearly, the intentions on both Mrs., Craters and Mr. Shiftlets parts. OConnor describes Mr. Shiftlet to be a very nice and generous man, looking for a place to stay in return for his work. His actions, for the most part, show us his good intentions and lead us to believe that he is a good person. Yet, while his actions mostly portray good aspects, OConnor uses symbolism to sneak in the true meaning behind Mr. Shiftlet. His left coat sleeve was folded up to show there was only half an arm in it and his gaunt figure listed slightly to the side as if the breeze were pushing him. (OConnor 47) OConnor uses his disability to show us that he isnt normal. Normal people have two arms and Mr. Shiftlet did not, so something is wrong with him. He isnt normal. ...there aint a broken thing on this plantation that I couldnt fix for you, one-arm jackleg or not. Im a man, he said with a sullen dignity, even if I aint a whole one. (OConnor 53) We see here that Mr. Shiftlet is capable of doing normal things so this leads me to ...

Tlaloc the Aztec God of Rain and Fertility
Tlaloc the Aztec God of Rain and Fertility Tlaloc (Tl-lock) was the Aztec rain god and one of the most ancient and widespread deities of all Mesoamerica. Tlaloc was thought to live on the top of the mountains, especially the ones always covered by clouds; and from there he sent down revivifying rains to the people below. Rain gods are found in most Mesoamerican cultures, and the origins of Tlaloc can be traced back to Teotihuacan and the Olmec. The rain god was called Chaac by the ancient Maya, and Cocijo by the Zapotec of Oaxaca. Tlalocs Characteristics The rain god was among the most important of the Aztec deities, governing the spheres of water, fertility, and agriculture. Tlaloc oversaw crop growth, especially maize, and the regular cycle of the seasons. He ruled over the 13-day sequence in the 260-day ritual calendar beginning with the day Ce Quiauitl (One Rain). Tlalocs female consort was Chalchiuhtlicue (Jade Her Skirt) who presided over freshwater lakes and streams. Archaeologists and historians suggest that the emphasis on this well-known god was a way for the Aztec rulers to legitimize their rule over the region. For this reason, they built a shrine to Tlaloc on the top of the Great Temple of Tenochtitlan, just next to the one dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec patron deity. A Shrine in Tenochtitlan Tlalocs shrine at the Templo Mayor represented agriculture and water; while Huitzilopochtlis shrine represented warfare, military conquest, and tribute... These are the two most important shrines within their capital city. The shrine of Tlaloc featured pillars inscribed with symbols of Tlalocs eyes and painted with a series of blue bands. The priest who was tasked with tending to the shrine was the Quetzalcoatl Tlaloc tlamacazqui, one of the most highly ranked priests in the Aztec religion. Many offerings have been found associated with this shrine, containing sacrifices of water animals and artifacts such as jade objects, which were related to water, sea, fertility, and the underworld. A Place in the Aztec Heaven Tlaloc was assisted by a group of supernatural beings called Tlaloques who supplied the earth with rain. In Aztec mythology, Tlaloc was also the governor of the Third Sun, or world, which was dominated by water. After a great flood, the Third Sun ended, and people were replaced by animals such as dogs, butterflies, and turkeys. In the Aztec religion, Tlaloc governed the fourth heaven or sky, called Tlalocan, the Place of Tlaloc. This place is described in Aztec sources as a paradise of lush vegetation and perennial spring, ruled by the god and the Tlaloques. The Tlalocan was also the afterlife destination for those who had died violently of water-related causes as well as for new-born children and women who died in childbirth. Ceremonies and Rituals The most important ceremonies dedicated to Tlaloc were called Tozoztontli and they took place at the end of the dry season, in March and April. Their purpose was to assure abundant rain during the growing season. One of the most common rites carried out during such ceremonies were sacrifices of children, whose crying was considered beneficial for obtaining rain. The tears of new-born children, being strictly connected with the Tlalocan, were pure and precious. One offering found at the Templo Mayor in Tenochtitlan included the remains of approximately 45 children sacrificed in honor of Tlaloc. These children ranged in age between two and seven years of age and were mostly but not entirely males. This was an unusual ritual deposit, and Mexican archaeologist Leonardo LÃ ³pez Lujn has suggested that the sacrifice was specifically to appease Tlaloc during the great drought that occurred during the mid-15th century C.E. Mountain Shrines Apart from the ceremonies carried out at the Aztec Templo Mayor, offerings to Tlaloc have been found in several caves and on mountain peaks. The most sacred shrine of Tlaloc was located on the top of Mount Tlaloc, an extinct volcano located east of Mexico City. Archaeologists investigating on the top of the mountain have identified the architectural remains of an Aztec temple which seem to have been aligned with the Tlaloc shrine at the Templo Mayor. This shrine is enclosed in a precinct where pilgrimages and offerings were carried out once a year by each Aztec king and his priests. Tlaloc Images The image of Tlaloc is one of the most often represented and easily recognizable in Aztec mythology, and similar to rain gods in other Mesoamerican cultures. He has large goggled eyes whose contours are made of two serpents which meet at the center of his face to form his nose. He also has large fangs hanging from his mouth and a protuberant upper lip. He is often surrounded by raindrops and by his assistants, the Tlaloques. He often holds a long scepter in his hand with a sharp tip which represents lightning and thunder. His representations are frequently found in the Aztec books known as codices, as well as in murals, sculptures, and copal incense burners. Sources Berdan FF. 2014. Aztec Archaeology and Ethnohistory. PDA-Professional Development Plan - Assignment Example In my work experience, I have noted that I am poor in engaging employees mainly because I prefer doing things for myself and therefore, I fail to adequately delegate work to employees. According to Chalofsky (1998), poor engagement of employees will demoralize them, as they will feel they do not play a critical role in the organization and many of them will easily opt out of the organization if they get another opportunity elsewhere. In order to be an effective human resource manager, I will need to work on this weakness by fast mastering to trust others and then ensure that I take up a supervisory role after delegating work. The resources that I will use include guidebooks and video tutorials on achieving employee engagement and proper delegation of work. I can easily achieve this goal within a period of three months and practice at home by ensuring I delegate house chores and keep everyone engaged in managing the household. Zull (2002) would argue that I am individualistic since I am not able to transfer my skills and knowledge to others. Quality control throughout the life cycle Assignment
Quality control throughout the life cycle - Assignment Example This may require measuring the project performance, modification to work breakdown structure and alternately revising the project management plan, particularly components of plan that include scope management plan, time management plan and cost management plans. Techniques like fast tracking would be one of our major option while planning for the schedule management. Also a number of risks may need to be reviewed including regulatory requirements to procurements and additional resource allocation. Further, effective implementation of a change control system to analyze and accept the changed scope for approval would also be crucial. While managing the triple constraints of scope, time and cost, it is equally essential to effectively manage the quality of the project outcome. According to Sanghera (2010), controlling the quality is a critical to the project management requirement effective mitigation of the project risks. This suggests reviewing the quality management plan and risk management plan to complement the additional scope. Mulcahy (2011) highlights the use of seven basic tools of quality including Cause and effect diagram, Flowchart, Histogram, Pareto chart, Run chart, Scatter diagram, Control chart to monitor and control the project quality. In project with change in scope, a mix of following quality tools is recommended. Flow Charts. Flow Charts helps to identify the source of an existing or potential quality problem in the project and develop approaches to resolving these problems (PMBOK 2008). It is a graphical representation of all the project processes showing activities, their sequence and decision making points. In a construction project with additional scope having a same time bar, flow charts would be used to review the interaction of all activities and analyze any potential problem especially in case of fast tracking. A major merit of flow charts is to consolidate procedures and processes, for

Whitbread Analysis - Case Study Example company has utilized cost leadership is in the use of the technology, particularly iPhone Apps, and Mobile websites to ensure that it cuts prices (Porter, 1985). In the same context, the company has managed to realize success in the cost leadership strategy through innovation. As such, the company has focused on a unique Christmas campaign, variety of foods including breakfast and new drinks such as hot chocolate. Another approach, which companies enhance cost leadership, is through seeking new opportunities. As for such, it is evident that Whitbread has been venturing into new markets in different countries (Lynch, 2003). The company is in a position to own a strong brand portfolio. Such is evident from its partner stores, which are Premier Inn and Costa, and they are market-leading performers. The mother company has many years of experience in the hospitality and restaurants industry. In addition, the company is focusing on providing new products in both local and international markets at affordable prices to ensure profitability (Worley, & Cummings, 2014). Costa faces the risk of overpricing its products because of its location in a lavish ending of the coffee products spectrum (Lashely 2010). In addition, most of the brands are still untested outside the United Kingdom market, with only a low number of Costa Markets and premier Inn outlets in the international market. Similarly, the company has not provided proper brand awareness in the saturated international market, which is a factor that might undermine its sales. Considering the store cutbacks and possible closure faced my many traditional retailers, the company has an opportunity to capitalize on the available high street retail price. In respect to expansion, the company has an opportunity to venture into new markets in Dubai, India and China among others. The companyââ¬â¢s global economic progress remains unstable; however, there is significant uncertainty in the process of expanding into new markets

The Main Purpose of Magnetic Separation Machine Essay Example for Free
The Main Purpose of Magnetic Separation Machine Essay The magnetic separator is one of commonly used preparation equipments in magnetic separation factory. It has dry and wet two types. According to types of magnets, it can be divided into permanent magnet type and electromagnet type. It is also can be divided into strong magnet type, middle magnet type and weak magnet type according to the magnetic field strength. Different magnetic separators have different characteristics and performance. The common things have magnetite iron ore (belong to strong magnetic minerals), hematite (belong to weak magnetic minerals), limonite, lens iron ore, siderite (they are weak magnetic minerals), etc. They are the raw materials of iron and steel industry, Chinas iron ore grade is low, most of the impurities high, so more than 80 percent of the need for magnetic separation. Manganese, such as hard manganese, pyrolusite, rhodochrosite are weakly magnetic, commonly used in magnetic separation recovery. Ilmenite, wolframite, monazite (phosphorus cerium lanthanum mine), niobium-tantalum minerals are weakly magnetic minerals. Also commonly used in the recovery of magnetic separation. If the above examples are magnetic minerals as a purpose of mineral recovery (the magnetic minerals as a concentrate) is regarded non-metallic mineral beneficiation of iron, titanium and other mineral impurities harmful ingredients, generally magnetic method removed. For example, the beneficiation of kaolin, kyanite, quartz, feldspar, tourmaline, etc. are generally used magnetic separation to remove iron, titanium minerals. Heavy media beneficiation ferrosilicon or magnetite to do to increase the quality, magnetic separation is a simple and effective method of recycling to increase the quality of this application, common in the coal preparation plant. The broken ore crushing crusher broken cavity into the Iron Crusher will be damaged, commonly used magnetic separation to remove the material in the iron. Comprehensive utilization of the useful ingredients in the processing of waste, wastewater, waste gas, such as three wastes to protect the environment, application of magnetic separation is also available. Example, recycling steel slag in steel mills, power plants deal with fly ash, steel mill wastewater treatment, there is the method of magnetic separation. The magnetic fluid separation method is a new magnetic separation process, the use of a magnetic liquid in a magnetic field may increase the role of objects immersed in the great magnetic force can separate objects of different density. Autonomy and Responsibility: The Start of Labor Unions Essay -- Essay
Autonomy and Responsibility: The Start of Labor Unions The late nineteenth century was a time of great change for people everywhere. Industries became staples of society in almost every major city; farming became more efficient due to steel and machines, and more jobs were available because of all the new industries. Between 1865 and 1900, the number of people employed in manufacturing rose from 1.3 million to 4.5 million. Working conditions were terrible, providing long hours, low wages, and unhealthy conditions. Millions of people were denied the basic amenities that their labor made possible for others.1 When reviewing drive for monopolies, Edward Bellamy, author of Looking Backward, wrote that "The individual laborer, who had been relatively important to the small employer, was reduced to insignificance and powerlessness against the great corporation, while at the same time the way upward to the grade of employer was closed to him. Self-defense drove him to union with his fellows."2 The people wanted their independence and proper treatment from their employers, so they formed labor unions to achieve this goal. The employers were responsible for properly compensating them for their work, but yet they failed to do so until the laborers fought back. The start of such labor unions as the National Labor Union, The Knights of Labor, and the American Federation of Labor asserted the autonomy of the common worker. One significant labor union was the National Labor Union (NLU). In the summer of 1866, union leaders called a congress of labor organizations at Baltimore. At this time, seventy-seven delegates representing 60,000 workers launched the NLU. The NLU worked towards their main goal of obtaining an eight-hour wor... ...se their labor force. Notes 1. Regret: Best Friend
We did everything together, and I thought nothing could tear our friendship apart, but I was wrong. As the years past by, Rachel started making more friends and I felt that was being left out a lot and less popular. Our friendship was still there, but until one day, when a little misunderstanding due to Jealousy caused us to drift apart. That misunderstanding was the biggest regret of my teenage years. ââ¬Å"Hey Rachel I heard your birthday is coming up and you are going have a party. Am I invited? â⬠Nicole asked her. ââ¬Å"Am I invited too? A group of girls, her new friends crowded around her table, filled with curiosity whether they were invited. Rachel then whipped out a stack of invitation cards out from her bag and said, ââ¬Å"l got my invitation cards here. You guys will find out whether you got invited later. So, shoo! I'm trying to study here. â⬠The crowd then dispersed, going back to their seats. I wondered if I was being Invited too. Yet I naturally assumed t hat I was as If I was her best friend. In between classes, I saw Rachel Glenn out Invitations. Those who got Invited all squealed In delight upon receiving It.I sat on the edge of my seat, expecting to receive my invitation. But by the end of the day, I left school empty handed. I could not believe I did not receive any invitation from Rachel It's just not fair. Fury and jealousy overwhelmed me. My blood started to boil. Did Rachel really treat me as her best friend? All she cares is popularity. Out of hatred, I tested everybody her biggest secret. The secret that she trusted me wholeheartedly with. Tested and revealed that her parents were divorced. All of the sudden, I heard a familiar voice calling out for me, ââ¬Å"Shania! Here's your invitation! â⬠I stopped momentarily. My blood went cold.Invitation? She Invited me to her arty? ââ¬Å"Here,â⬠she shoved the pink envelope Into my hand, ââ¬Å"I'm sure you are coming. â⬠I nodded my head shakily. Oh no. I shouldn 't have done that! Why did I do it? Worry and anxiety overwhelmed me. There was nothing I could do to take back my actions. Just then Nicole walked out of the school gates and gasped out loud while looking at her phone. She then saw Rachel and approached her, saying, ââ¬Å"l am so sorry that your parents are divorced. â⬠Nicole gave her a quick hug and left. Rachel stood still. Her eyes widened with shock. Why did Nicole say that? The moment Rachel regained her senses, she glared at me.MUD. You are the one behind this. You are the only one who knows my greatest secret. I trusted you, because you are my best friend. I can't believe you told Nicole? You know I hate It when people know about my personal affairs! â⬠ââ¬Å"I'm sorryâ⬠¦ I TLD mean to tell everyone your secret! â⬠I apologized to her. ââ¬Å"Everyone? You told everyone? â⬠Muttering to herself, ââ¬Å"l can't believe I was dumb enough to tell you my secret. â⬠She onwards, I made a resolution never to Jump to conclusions so hastily ever again. Friendships took years to build and could be destroyed so rapidly. Regret cursed through me.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelly Essay
à The setting in both books is mainly in the 18th century where there wasnââ¬â¢t anything too modern which helped add the theme of gothic horror to the reading audience as in those times it was a lot darker and more horrifying. In an Interview with a vampire the story is set over 200 years. Showing as the theme of gothic horror in the book decreases, as the book becomes more modern. This is shown when Lestat is scared of the modern world and the artificial lights as he thinks they are sunlight scaring him into hiding. There are various themes in both books for example they have written one of the characters acting like God, Lestat in Interview with a vampire and Victor in Frankenstein. This was especially scary in Frankenstein 1816 as the people took religion very seriously and to talk about gods in this way was known as evil, which scared the people who read the book Which would inspire terror into the people who read it. When in Frankenstein the creature says â⬠I am thy creature, I ought to be thy Adamâ⬠And in Interview in the vampire when Lestat acts as god by creating Louie and also when Lestat says they are the same as God when he says â⬠Gods kill, and so shall weâ⬠This shows the God theme as Lestat connects being a vampire to being Gods which is shown in the quote. Another thing in both books they deal with the themes of outsiders. In Frankenstein when the creature is looking in ââ¬Å"On examining the dwelling, I found that one of the windows of the cottage had formally occupied part of it but the panes had been boarded up with wood. In one of these was a small and almost imperceptible chick, through which the eye could just penetrate. Through this crevice a small room was visible. â⬠Also in Interview with a vampire Louie became an outsider when he became a vampire. â⬠I said goodbye to the sunrise and went out to become a vampireâ⬠The two texts are very similar though in many ways. First of all in both texts the main character is an outsider, Louie as a Vampire as he is different from everyone else as he is a vampire and Victor as an outcast to everyone else as he created this monster and is a criminal for doing so making him an outsider and different to other people. Also both authors have lost a child which may have helped write the book using their life experiences to help them writing the book. Both books have roughly the same plot when Louie or the creature both have a natural birth and find it hard to survive. Also in both books they murder when the creature kills people or Louie kills people for blood. As when Louie said, â⬠Now I am guilty of murder. â⬠I think the authors of these two texts have donââ¬â¢t an excellent job in dealing with the theme of outsiders in the text as the setting, the characters and whatââ¬â¢s happening around them all make them outsiders. Also what the characters are and how they act and what they do which inspires terror or horror into the reader create the genre of Gothic horror and make it stand out. But what most of all stuck into my mind were the words from Louie, which really made me think Gothic horror and outsiders, was ââ¬Å"I wanted love and goodness in this which is living deathââ¬â¢ I said ââ¬Ë It was impossible from the beginning, because you cannot have love and goodness when you do what you know to be evil, what you know to be wrongâ⬠and also in Frankenstein when Victor said â⬠It was necessary that I should return without delay to Geneva, there to watch over the lives of those I do fondly loved; and to lie in wait for the murderer, that if any chance led me to the place of his concealment, or if he daredâ⬠Both showing the Gothic horror in their words like when they say ââ¬Å"murdererâ⬠and ââ¬Å"evilâ⬠creating the gothic horror feeling.
